Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Board the Toum Tiou in Siem Reap
At 3.00pm you will meet in front of FCC Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap and get transferred to the boat-pier in Phnom Krom. Embark the Toum Tiou and you receive a security briefing. The ship will drop anchor near the flooded forest on the lake. You get introduced to your crew and can enjoy a delicious welcome dinner.

Day 2: Cruise Chnok Trou & Kampong Chhnang
The Toum Tiou departs early in the morning and sails towards Chnok Trou. Meanwhile you can have a relaxing breakfast. On arrival, local boats are coming alongside the Toum Tiou and picking you up for a visit of the local village. Due to its remoteness and difficult access, the village is totally overlooked by tourists and is completely self-sufficient. Everything in this rural community is floating on water such as stores, the school, the church as well as the police station. After returning to the ship you will have lunch while the Toum Tiou is on its way to Kampong Chhnang. Kampong Chhnang is one of the largest fishing ports on the Tonle Sap Lake. The area is famous for its pottery ware, unchanged in style for centuries, which is produced in sufficient quantities to supply the entire country. And not to be overlooked are the products of the Thnoat tree also known as sugar palm (a real national symbol) that abounds in the area: a mellow tasting, caramel-colored sugar sold in large cakes and palm wine. In the early evening you will re-embark the ship and the Toum Tiou drops anchor a few miles away.

Day 3: Cruise Kampong Tralach & Phnom Penh
Today the boat will journey towards Kampong Tralach. On Arrival you will visit its wonderful vihara which belongs to the Wat Kampong Tralach Leu pagoda. To reach it, involves a stroll through Kompong Tralach Krom village, then crossing some gorgeous stretches of emerald rice paddies as you leave the river behind. This vihara dates back to the early 20th century and is home to some outstanding murals. Afterwards you will go back to the ship and depart towards Phnom Penh. On your way you will have lunch. On arrival in Phnom Penh you will start your own exploration of Cambodia's capital. For example visit FCC, the Central Market or other antique boutiques. Later on you will re-embark the Toum Tiou where you can witness a local dance group that will perform a traditional Apsara show on board. This evening you can enjoy your dinner at a restaurant.

Day 4: Explore Phnom Penh
This morning you will visit the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, located in a quiet Phnom Penh suburb, this was the infamous Khmer Rouge prison/ torture centre. After lunch, you will stop at the terracotta red National Museum which offers a charming setting for a comprehensive collection of Khmer artifacts, and then move on to the nearby Royal Palace, on the banks of the mighty Mekong River. In the evening you will return to the Toum Tiou and the vessel will leave Phnom Penh.

Day 5: Cruise Kaam Samnaar & Chau Doc
Today the Toum Tiou navigates towards Kaam Samnaar, the Cambodian/ Vietnamese border. After completing the customs formalities the vessel departs for Chau Doc. Chau Doc is located in the middle of a gigantic squaring of rice plantations, while the city itself is prosperous, developing and has some amazing colonial buildings. Participate in a short panoramic city tour and explore a colorful local market. In the evening you will return to the Toum Tiou and have dinner on board.

Day 6: Cruise from Chau Doc to Vinh Long
Early in the morning, the Toum Tiou will navigate for Sa Dec. After breakfast there is a short tour of the local area including visiting a local primary school and a pagoda. You will have the opportunity to stroll around Sa Dec market, situated on the banks of the Mekong. This interesting 'city' only has 30,000 inhabitants and is fascinating in its unspoiled authenticity and undisturbed by tourists. Return to the boat and depart for Vinh Long. The vessel will drop anchor a few miles before Vinh Long.

Day 7: Cruise Cai Be & My Tho
On arrival, local boats will pick you up in order to discover the brick manufacturers and pottery factories, the seedbed of fruit trees of the Island Binh Hoa Phuoc and visit a traditional house of a local farmer. You will witness local life which is organized around the water, houses on stilts, hawkers in boats and hundreds of small boats. Next stop will be the fascinating Cai Be floating market. Afterwards go back to the ship and cruise towards My Tho. The Toum Tiou drops anchor on the river in the proximity of Thoi Son Island. Local boats will come alongside the ship to pick you up and transfer you to the mainland. My Tho is a quiet, prosperous city of about 100,000 inhabitants, famous for its many fruit orchards, gardens and the huge rice fields. The surrounding countryside is home to some of the most luxuriant gardens in Vietnam with their coconut palms, banana and mango trees. Afterwards you will catch a local boat and cruise on the river to Dragon Island. After the exploration of the island it is time to re-embark the Toum Tiou and leave My Tho for Saigon. On the way you will navigate on the marvelous canal of Cho Gao. This evening, your last aboard the Toum Tiou, you will enjoy a refreshing farewell cocktail and the Captain's farewell dinner.

Day 8: Cruise from My Tho to Saigon
Your journey with the Toum Tiou cruise liner has come to an end, but will not be forgotten. Disembark after breakfast and leisure on board at 11.00am and head into the city of Saigon.
