Experience the wild beauty of Northeast Cambodia on this 5-day adventure!
Highlights:
The journey begins with an early morning departure from Phnom Penh for a long 7-8 hour transfer to Banlung city in the Ratanakiri province. Upon arrival in Banlung, you will check into your accommodation. Meals included are lunch and dinner.
After breakfast, you’ll travel to Koh Pong village and then take a long boat along the Sesan River into Virachey National Park. Accompanied by a local ranger, you’ll embark on a 12km trek through diverse landscapes including forests, rice paddies, and jungle. The trek includes a hike through a bamboo forest, rock hills, and streams, leading to a waterfall for a refreshing break. The day concludes with setting up camp and dinner at a forest campsite. Meals included are lunch and dinner.
You’ll wake up to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy breakfast cooked over a campfire. Today involves a 16km trek through lush old jungle, with opportunities for wildlife and bird sightings. The trail passes through thick jungle to open forests with steep inclines and fallen bamboo. You’ll reach the summit of a small mountain for panoramic views of Virachey National Park before continuing to a large 40m waterfall for swimming and relaxation. Dinner will be cooked by your guide, and you’ll spend the night near the waterfall. Meals included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Following an early breakfast, you’ll embark on the final leg of the trek, covering approximately 14km through dense vegetation, sometimes requiring a machete to clear the path. You’ll enjoy scenic views and have lunch by a small river. The trek then loops towards the Koh Peak village (a Ka Chock tribal village) before reaching the Sesan River, which you’ll cross by ferry. From there, you’ll be transferred back to Banlung, arriving late in the afternoon. Meals included are breakfast and lunch.
After breakfast in Banlung, you’ll take a short trip to the beautiful emerald-hued crater lake, Yeak Loam Lake. Following this visit, you will be transferred back to Phnom Penh, arriving in the evening. Breakfast is included.
