Pickup from your hotel at 7.30 am and we begin to explore this charming city with a visit to the Royal Palace, Inside the Palace walls you will be treated to the Throne Hall, the Chan Chaya Pavilion and the King’s residential quarters. You will then move on to the neighboring Silver Pagoda, so named as it is claimed its floor is made up of over 4,000 silver tiles. Next stop is the terracotta red National Museum which offers a charming setting for a comprehensive collection of Khmer artifacts. Continue to Wat Phnom, set on top of a 27m-high tree-covered knoll, Wat Phnom is on the only ‘hill’ in town.
After lunch, leave the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh behind and travel by ferry to Silk Island, known locally as Koh Dach, is an island in the Mekong River. North of the capital of Phnom Penh. Silk Island is home to a silk weaving village and silk centre, where you can see how the whole silk production process works from beginning to end, from mulberry-chomping silk worms through to their golden cocoons through to the complex manual loom weaving process, which requires a dexterity and memory that would be the envy of many.
