The Osvay Community-Based Ecotourism Site was established in 2007 with support of the Culture and Environment Preservation Association. Osvay provides several mangrove forests as well as Mekong Islands, visitors can watch the famous Irrawaddy dolphins at the wet-land conservation area, enjoy the rich biodiversity, relax on one of the river beaches and observe a mixture of different bird species like the Black Cormorant. This area belongs to one of the most popular eco-tourist destinations for locals as well as international travelers, who are interested in experiencing an authentic Khmer community.

Osvay belongs to the Thala Barivath district and is located along the Mekong River in Stung Treng Province. Stung Treng Town can be reached by bus or taxi from Phnom Penh within 8 to 10 hours. Afterwards it takes another hour to go to Osvay by speed boat. The Ramsar wetland conservation area, which is part of the Osvay commune, is protected by law as a special breeding zone for spawning hundreds of species of fish, birds and other wildlife. In addition many trees with a unique ecology are growing in this region.

Visitors can hike through the forests and meet friendly villagers in a magnificently rural setting. Watch the incredible Mekong Irrawaddy dolphins and visit the community forest and mangrove forest. Moreover, walk along the river and the lake and gaze at the diversity of Mekong river fishes and other wildlife animals. Get the opportunity to purchase local handicrafts or take a refreshing swim in the clear water rapids. During dry season a white sand beach will appear and present not only a green mango forest but also some natural stone outcroppings. Stay overnight in a traditional home-stay or community-lodge and experience Khmer culture firsthand!
