The Yeak Laom Ecotourism Site was established in 1998 and is now controlled by theĀ local communities themselves. Yeak Laom is a volcanic lake, containing clear water, and surrounded by jungle. The area provides very attractive trekking tours around the lake and gives visitors the chance to take a refreshing swim in the hundreds of years old lake. In addition to that visitors can meet native people and learn more about their culture, especially about their traditional dancing and music performances.
Yeak Laom (also spelled Yeak Loam) is situated in Ratanakiri Province. Banlung, the capital of Ratanakiri Province, can be reached by bus from Phnom Penh within 12 hours. Yeak Laom is 5 kilometers (3 miles) away from Banlung Town and it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes by taxi or motor taxi. The access is more difficult during rainy season (June to October) due to the road conditions.
Visitors can not only explore the incredible volcanic lake in the middle of a beautiful landscape of mountainous forests but also go swimming in the cool and clear water or hike through the forest around the lake with an experienced local guide. During your trip you will meet locals and get the opportunity to find out more about their culture. Moreover, you visit traditional handicraft production sites and you can buy local crafts such as baskets, musical instruments, hand-woven cloths like scarves and much more.
When you book with an account, you will be able to track your payment status, track the confirmation and you can also rate the tour after you finished the tour.
